MLI’s Philanthropy and Impact Investment program works where climate, capital and cultural diversity meet. We help direct more funding, influence and strategic attention toward the leaders, organisations and ideas capable of driving lasting systems change. Our team brings experience from across the philanthropic ecosystem, including serving as close collaborators, advisors or grants committee members of groups like Nexus Philanthropy and Impact Investment in Asia, C.A.N.A. and Groundswell Giving in Australia, and the Environmental Defense Fund in the United States. We are focused on helping climate and environmental philanthropy recognise that multicultural work is not an optional inclusion lens, but a strategic imperative if we are serious about winning. Equally, we are bringing climate and environmental conversations more deeply into multicultural philanthropic spaces, helping build the bridge between communities, funders and changemakers that a more just and effective future requires.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
We design each philanthropy and impact investment program around the specific learning needs of the cohort in front of us. In one program, we brought Asia-based philanthropists and impact investors, many of them new to climate, to Australia to examine how capital can shape regional leadership for a sustainable future, and to better understand the ecological and economic links between Asia and Australia. In another, we worked with culturally diverse Australians who were new to philanthropy, including people who had created or inherited wealth and wanted to understand how to give with greater strategy and impact. Unlike traditional philanthropy advisory services, we are a not-for-profit, which means our focus is not on pushing a product or gatekeeping. It is on impact.
We meet people wherever they are in the journey, making space for curiosity, reflection and practical learning. What matters is building the understanding and confidence to use capital with care, integrity and impact our world so needs right now.
