THE CROSS-CULTURAL INSIGHTS LAB
The Cross-Cultural Insights Lab is a global centre for understanding how culture shapes environmental and climate action. By better understanding practices, mindsets and behaviours of place based or cultural constituencies the lab is able to provide a compass on how to more effectively reach, inspire and mobilise multicultural constituencies. The 3 key pillars of the lab are:
Culturally Informed Research
We generate social and behavioural insights into how communities connect with environmentalism, including testing climate messaging, and what drives or repels the appetite for action.
Lived Experience Wisdom
We listen to the lived experience of campaigners and community leaders on the frontlines of change with the same vital understanding as those not yet engaged. The wisdom of both allows us to see clearly the kinds of bridges that need to be built.
Practical Tools
We produce practical tools to help campaigns, policies, and public initiatives speak to culturally diverse audiences. Written in plain language, these tools are for sector pratitioners as much as they are for community members to want to be more efefctive.

HOW TO USE THE LAB
Whether you’re a campaigner, policymaker, researcher, or community organiser, the Cross-Cultural Insights Lab is designed to help you connect insight with action.
Here’s how you can use it:
-
Explore the evidence. Discover what’s known — and what’s missing — about how culturally and linguistically diverse communities engage with climate action in Australia and beyond.
-
Access practical tools. Use our research, messaging guides, and campaign resources to make your communications more resonant and effective.
-
Collaborate and contribute. Join active research projects, share your experience, or help expand our collective understanding.
-
Transform your impact. Apply cultural insight to build more inclusive, powerful, and community-grounded approaches to climate and sustainability.
We’re continually gathering new insights, data, and voices — and we invite you to be part of it.
